MOVIE NIGHT DOUBLE FEATURE FEBRUARY 21 with Looking For Langston (45 minutes) and Some Of My Best Friends Are...

Check in: 6 to 6:30 p.m. at the light blue/green gated door off the parking lot. No admission after 6:30 p.m. Ring the doorbell to the left of the gate if no one is there.

Location: 1006 SE Grand across the parking lot from the 7-11

Parking: Park anywhere in the lot except the SalonCentric spaces.

MOVIE NIGHT

This is a movie night with folks who have attended Stumptown and some who haven't.  This is not an official JO event just an opportunity to socialize and watch a movie while supporting the host-venue.  Tonight we'll be watching two films.  

Looking for Langston is a 1989 British black-and-white film. It combines authentic archival newsreel footage of Harlem in the 1920s with scripted scenes to produce a non-linear impressionistic storyline celebrating black gay identity and desire during the artistic and cultural period, the Harlem Renaissance.  Released in February 1989 and in honor of Black History Month.  (42 minutes)

Some of My Best Friends Are... is a 1971 drama starring Golden Girl Rue McClanahan (born on this day in 1934...happy birthday Rue!), Candy Darling, and Fannie Flag.  On Christmas Eve 1971, in Manhattan's Greenwich Village,  a group of gay men and lesbians meet at the mob-owned Blue Jay Bar to talk about their lives and relationships.  In an unfavorable review it was called "a second-rate spin-off from 'The Boys In The Band' with "hammy performances and a sentimental screenplay that sounds as if it had just been let out after 30 years in a closet".
